MKE Week 1 – Habits
The first week of Reading the scrolls in The Greatest Salesman talks about habits. This is so easy but yet, so difficult. This is my second year of MKE.
Last year I stumbled and faltered doing my blogs. There are several deep and engrained reasons for this.
HABIT
Habit is the main reason. Work isn’t always fun, especially when it isn’t a practiced thing. When you practice it becomes easier. To get there you have to put in the work. Practice makes perfect, they say. If you practice it gets easier, more normal, you get used to it and then it becomes pleasurable. I have a habit of avoiding things I don’t like.
Why is this? Because I haven’t put in the time. I have just reverted to the things I “do.” Doom scrolling, talking, joking, messing around eating, watching tv……whatever the case.
It is so easy to just revert to the old way of Habit. If you take the time to just spend a few minutes on the new “thing” every day it will reward you in so many ways. It creates a new habit and if it is a productive one then great, a new good habit has been created. It gets easier to stay with it then.
It’s easier because it has become “normal’. Now it becomes fun once it is easier. So you notice that you haven’t been doing the old “habit”, great that one was taking up time and not creative or even a bit destructive to where you want to in life and becoming who you want to be.
Just try it. Take just a few minutes a day with something that you want to do or become. See where it takes you. It is really working for me.

Welcome back Pete! Keep working on the habits!
You USED to have a habit of avoiding things you don’t like to do! Now that you are aware and being intentional, that old unconstructive habit will fall away. Glad to have you back this year!
Great job! Keep practicing your new habits. Happy you are apart of the MKE.
