MKE Week 3 – Something Is Beginning To Make Sense

Another week, another step forward.

I’m starting to see how some of the pieces are coming together. The readings, the sit, the DMP, and becoming more aware of what goes on in my mind during the day.

One thing I’ve noticed is how differently the words feel when I change them from “I will” to “I am” or “I have”. It’s not just reading or mouthing the words anymore. They’re beginning to sink in and have a different meaning.

But the biggest thing this week has been working on my DMP.

I’ve been struggling to put into words what I really want to accomplish. It’s not just about money, a house, a car or holidays.

There’s something much deeper.

As I was working through it, I remembered a phone call from a few years ago.

I was going through a list of customers from a previous business and happened to speak with a lovely lady in her 90s.

She told me she’d started taking our product when she was 71 and had been using it for more than 20 years. It had meant so much to her that she’d spent years sharing her experience with other people.

Then she apologised.

I couldn’t understand why.

She explained that she was now receiving care at home and couldn’t get out and tell people anymore.

And this part actually blew me away.

She was only ever a customer. Never a distributor. Yet she’d spent all those years sharing her experience simply because of what it meant to her.

When she discovered I’d been instrumental in bringing that product to Australia, she couldn’t thank me enough.

I got off that phone shaking.

In more than 30 years in business, I don’t remember ever experiencing a feeling quite like it.

And here’s the thing.

As I’m reading my DMP now, knowing what’s in it because I put it there, I’m still weeping. Still welling up inside.

I still can’t find the words to describe that feeling. Maybe I never will. And that’s probably okay.

Just a simple act can change so many lives. How powerful is that?

I’m beginning to understand a little more about what leaving a legacy really means to me. Helping other people find their own purpose and knowing I’ve made a difference.

Something else has started to make sense.

The blog and the DMP have two different objectives, but they’re running alongside each other.

The blog is written for others. I’m sharing my experiences and what I’m beginning to learn.

But my DMP has an audience of just one. My own subconscious. My Subway.

I don’t need to tell Subway the whole story. I already know it. Just a few words that bring back the picture and, more importantly, the feeling.

Maybe I’ve read that somewhere in the lessons or workbook already. I’m not sure. But it’s beginning to make sense to me now.

I’m also becoming more aware of old habits, my ego, how I react to criticism and the importance of listening and learning.

And again, that jigsaw puzzle, with all the pieces scattered on the floor, is starting to come together. Some pieces are moving in the right direction.

There are still a few more to go.

I haven’t got everything worked out. Far from it.

But something is beginning to make sense.

One day at a time.

And onward and upwards.
