MKE Week 3 – It’s Not About Falling Behind. It’s About What You Do Next
We all fall behind sometimes.
Life happens. Work gets busy, family needs us, unexpected challenges arise, and sometimes we simply run out of time or energy. We miss a day, fall behind on a task, or lose momentum with something we committed to doing.
And that’s okay. Falling behind isn’t the problem. What you do next is what matters.
When you realize you’re behind, you have a choice. Will you take the time to catch up, adjust your schedule, and get back on track? Or will you let that temporary setback become the reason you stop altogether?
It’s easy to feel overwhelmed when you look at everything you haven’t done. You might tell yourself you’ll start again next week, when things settle down. But one missed day can quickly become a week, and a temporary setback can turn into a habit of giving up.
Don’t let that happen. You don’t have to do everything at once. Make a plan. Break the work into manageable steps. Start with what you can do today, and keep moving forward.
Give yourself grace, but hold yourself accountable. You can acknowledge that life got in the way without abandoning the commitment you made to yourself.
Remember, consistency doesn’t mean being perfect. It means returning to what matters, even when you lose your way.
You can slow down without stopping. You can adjust your plan without abandoning your goal. And you can fall behind without falling off track permanently.
The real measure of commitment isn’t whether you ever fall behind. It’s whether you’re willing to get back up, catch up, and keep going.
So, the next time life throws you off course, don’t waste energy beating yourself up over what you haven’t done.
Take a breath. Make a plan. Take the next step.
You’re not finished just because you’ve fallen behind.
You just have to decide what you’re going to do next.

Next step! Thank you!
Excellent advice, Suzy – decide what to do next, and then do it!
